Annual Bar Membership Renewal

ANNUAL BAR MEMBERSHIP RENEWAL UPDATES FOR 2024-2025

Attorneys admitted to the practice of law in the District of Kansas must renew their bar membership annually to maintain active status. See D. Kan. Rule 83.5.3. Beginning June 1, 2024, attorneys will renew their membership via CM/ECF to pay the $25 renewal fee. An email with detailed instructions will be sent to attorneys in active status within the next 30 days.

It is of the utmost importance that an attorney’s contact information is correct to ensure they receive the renewal email. Please go to CM/ECF and log in using a PACER username and password. Go to the Utilities tab and click on Maintain Your E-Mail and either confirm or correct the primary email address in the record. The renewal email WILL NOT be sent to secondary emails. All attorney contact information can also be changed via PACER using the Manage My Account link (can also be found at the top of the PACER home page) and the Maintenance Tab.

There is still no fee to maintain inactive or retired status. There is no additional reinstatement fee to return to active status from inactive status; an attorney only needs to pay the $25 fee. Once in inactive or retired status, an attorney does not need to complete an annual renewal pursuant to D. Kan. Rule 83.5.3(c). Moving forward, an attorney in inactive or retired status will need to contact the Attorney Registration Coordinator.

Please contact the Attorney Registration Coordinator with any questions or concerns.
